ARA provides Radio Repeaters for Amateur Radio Operators

Radio Repeaters are generally located in high-profile sites to provide for maximum range to VHF and UHF radios. Repeaters have receiver and transmitters interconnected to listen on one frequency and transmit on a different, related frequency. Use of the repeater extends the range of hand-held or mobile radios. Many of the ARA Repeaters are interconnected to other ARA sites via link radios.

• To advance the arts and sciences of radio communications equipment at ARA owned repeater sites further extending the communication range of VHF and UHF radios.
• To provide training and support for Public Service and Emergency activities by Amateur Radio Operators.
